Leadership Transition Follows Poor Response
The new appointee takes on the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's disappointing initial reveal last autumn.
On Wednesday, 2K president a key figure informed employees about this strategic move through an official communication, which emphasized that early feedback sessions had revealed the requirement for a more defined direction.
Ismailer expressed that the team is now reimagining the project with a revised approach, aiming to satisfy player expectations.
A Pattern of Key Recruitment
This announcement echoes a similar move taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to work on the BioShock development group.
Here is the complete content from the president's announcement:
Dear Team—
I know you all just completed your meeting - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the recent updates. Last time I shared you all a message, I expressed the following: “I believe in this team. You all are some of the most driven and talented designers we have had the pleasure to partner with - and we’re looking forward for that partnership to continue.”
With your dedication and adaptability, particularly over the last year, you repeatedly show that.
The gamer responses from last fall’s Project ETHOS testing phase was enlightening. It affirmed the potential of a action-packed game but made clear we still had refinements needed. It uncovered the necessity for a clearer identity.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You took the input to heart and revamped Project ETHOS with a refreshed direction - one that’s positioned to achieve its promise to our fans.
The trust in Project ETHOS increases every day. To advance the remarkable progress you’ve made, I’m excited to announce Ben Brinkman as the new Lead of 31st Union. Following several months of conversations, Ben comes aboard us on next week.
Ben’s management and experience in the competitive gaming field is vast, having devoted the last 15 years producing and overseeing some of the most well-known franchises in the industry, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, the battle royale hit.
I invite you all in greeting Ben soon. We are all eager to continue witnessing the progress of the game in the time to ahead.
David
