Cars in German Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were contacted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then located many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for information.

An important political figure commented the attack rendered him speechless and had to be solved quickly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in five years prior.
